Bryan Kirk racked up 90 more points than favored Stephen Wright to win 2009 U.S. Freestyle Kayak Team Trials at the Glenwood Springs, Colorado, whitewater park, and thus ensured himself a coveted spot on the U.S. Freestyle Kayak Team.
Wright, who scored 820 points, took second.

Three surprises filled the final three spots for the men's team: Johnny Meyers, Chris Stafford and Rush Sturges.
The women's division hosted no surprises. Emily Jackson doubled the score of the second place finisher Adriene Levknecht and will, for the first time, represent the U.S. on the women's team.
In 2007, Jackson won the junior women's world championship.
The friendly rivalry between Jason Craig and Dane Jackson continued in Glenwood Springs. This time, Craig got the better rides.
But Dane, who also won the OC1 event, took second and will have his shot at worlds to defeat Craig.
